When You’re Struggling

Maybe life feels heavier than usual right now. You might be dealing with stress at work, trouble at home, money worries, a health problem, loneliness, or a sadness you can’t quite explain. Some days it’s hard just to get out of bed. And sometimes the hardest part is feeling like no one notices.
If that’s where you are, you’re not alone, and you’re not failing. Struggling is part of being human. Even people of deep faith go through seasons when life feels dark.

God sees you

You may feel invisible, but you are not invisible to God. The Bible says the Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). He doesn’t wait for you to get it together before he draws near. He meets you right where you are.
It’s okay to be honest
Many of the Psalms are prayers from people who were hurting. They cried out, asked hard questions, and told God exactly how they felt (Psalm 13, Psalm 42). You can do the same. You don’t need to hide your pain from God or put on a brave face. He can handle your questions, your tears, and even your anger.

You don’t have to carry this alone

God never meant for us to face hard things by ourselves. The Bible tells us to carry one another’s burdens (Galatians 6:2). Reaching out to a friend, a family member, or someone at church isn’t weakness. It’s one of the ways God brings help and healing into our lives.
Small steps matter
When you’re struggling, big changes can feel impossible. Start small. Get some rest. Step outside for a few minutes. Eat something nourishing. Text someone you trust. Say a short prayer, even if it’s just, “God, help me.” Small steps add up, and you don’t have to see the whole path to take the next one.

Help is a gift, not a failure

Sometimes what we’re facing needs more than encouragement. If your struggles are affecting your sleep, your relationships, your work, or your ability to get through the day, please talk with a doctor or a licensed counselor. Seeking professional help is wise, and it can work hand in hand with your faith. We’re glad to help you find a Christian counselor if that would be helpful.

If you’re in crisis

If you are thinking about ending your life or feel unsafe, please reach out right now. You can call or text 988 to reach the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, available 24 hours a day. If you are in immediate danger, call 911. Your life matters, and there are people ready to help.

A prayer for hard days

God, I’m struggling, and I don’t have the strength to fix it on my own. I’m tired, and I’m hurting. Please be near me. Give me enough strength for today. Bring the right people into my life, and help me be willing to let them in. Remind me that this season won’t last forever and that you haven’t let go of me. Amen.
