No Longer a Slave
What is the most dangerous kind of slavery? It’s the one where the slave actually believes they are free. In this sermon, we unpack a jarring, politically charged discourse from John 8:31-38 during the ancient Festival of Booths. Jesus speaks to a crowd that has just expressed a superficial "belief" in Him, but the moment He offers them true freedom, their religious pride flares up. We break down the deep irony of the setting: while standing in a festival designed to commemorate their historical deliverance from bondage, the crowd furiously claims they have “never been slaves to anyone.” Jesus cuts through the cultural amnesia to expose a universal spiritual diagnosis—anyone who habitually practices sin is its slave, and slaves have no permanent security in the Father's house. Whether you are completely outside the church trying to manage your own brokenness, or a lifelong "professional Christian" hiding behind a religious pedigree, this message is a sobering wake-up call. We challenge the modern culture of "cheap grace" and look at the radical, aggressive stance a true child of God must take toward sin.
